Successful technical workshop in Milan
The first technical meeting took place on October 26, 2017 in Milan.
It was attended by more than 30 participants representing Italian leaders in Higher Education interested in creating a student status on a European scale.
The conference was particularly useful for Heads of IT services to share views and exchange opinions. After a brief institutional welcome, Jean-Paul Roumegas, ESC project coordinator (Counselor for international relations and partnership at Cnous), and Andrea Baldin, IT Representative for Fondazione ENDISU, presented the current state of development of the ESC project and the technical steps for the implementation.
The topic focused on the vision, the potential and the objectives for universities:
– Definition of a EU Identifier;
– The European Student Card design and the ways to allow different kinds of recognition: the hologram, the QR Code, microprocessors;
– Presentation of the platform (ESC-R platform): connection to the platform, different roles of the users on the router, users’ registration process, HEI and student registration process, HEI and Student Card removal process and the impact on information systems;
– General Data Protection Regulation;
– Risk analysis
The conference has been a unique opportunity for all the interested institutions to come and discuss together about questions and answers, above all on the upcoming experimentation phase.
The experimentation is indeed planned for the period from October to December and will be operational from January until March 2018. In April the results will be collected and evaluated.
