The 39th French – German Colloquium, a European Student Services Conference will be held August 21-25, 2017. The conference will be convened by the joint sponsorship of DSW and the French Cnous under the auspices of Studierendenwerk Berlin. Taking into consideration complex social reality, the conference is entitled “Societal Responsibility: Challenges for Student Services between Safety and Open Societies”.

Pursuing their social mission to create equal opportunities in higher education for all students, the Studentenwerke and their European partners face contemporary trends of open democratic society and dynamic institutional and social changes. However, terrorism attacks, the rise of populist movements, increasing social marginalisation and discrimination pose new challenges for the Studentenwerke and the universities. Consequently, the colloquium considers the safety on campus, in an effort to underline the interests of a democratic society in personal and social security for all, in diversity, tolerance, respect and freedom. The colloquium also presents the current state of development and the progress of the EU-project “European Student Card” (ESC).

The colloquium is aimed at all student affairs and services staff in the European Higher Education Area.

It takes place on August 21-25, 2017 in Berlin, Germany. The registration fee is 500,- Euros for four days packed with presentations, discussions, workshops and cultural events. The conference languages are French, English and German.

A conference program, practical information and online registration form are available on the conference website.
